Defendants Veepak Bhopla and Rhony Bhopla’s Demurrer to the Plaintiff’s Complaint is CONTINUED, on the Court’s own motion to Friday, March 29, 2018 for meet and confer. C.C.P., sec. 430.41

Effective Jan. 1, 2016, the Legislature amended the statutory scheme for demurrers, requiring a meet and confer in person or by telephone to determine whether an agreement can be reached that would resolve the moving party’s objections. See, e.g. C.C.P., sec. 430.41(a).

The hearing is continued for 30 days to Friday March 29, 2018 for counsel to meet and confer in person or by telephone to determine whether an agreement can be reached that would resolve the moving party’s objections.

Although the declaration of defense counsel reflects that a telephone message was left to meet and confer, the responses were entirely by letter and email. A further declaration regarding the results of an in person or telephonic meet and confer, and whether any disputed issues have been resolved, shall be filed by moving counsel not later than Thursday, March 22, 2018.
