Plaintiff’s Two (2) Motions to Compel Responses to Judicial Council Form Interrogatories (Set One) and Demand for Inspection and Production of Documents (Set One); Request for Sanctions, filed on 5/8/18, are GRANTED.

While Defendant served verified responses on 6/4/18, the Form Interrogatories contain an objection claiming burden and oppression. Responses to Form Interrogatories #15.1. Defendant also objected to the Request for Production #12 on grounds of privacy. See Attachments to both Oppositions.

Untimely responses result in a waiver of objections. Cal Code Civil Procedure § 2030.290(a).

Defendant has not shown substantial justification for the delay in responding for six months without objections. The court imposes total sanctions of $520.00 for both motions against Defendant and counsel for the failure to timely provide verified responses without objection to authorized methods of discovery, which constitutes discovery abuse. Cal Code Civ Procedure § 2023.010(a)(4).
