From the Los Angeles court online case records it is Lawzilla's understanding the following occurred:

Attorney Alaba Ajetunmobi represented the plaintiff in a wrongful death case.




During the lawsuit the defendant served several types of discovery on attorney Ajetunmobi's client, including requests to produce documents and providing written questions to answer.

Ultimately, the defendant filed three motions to compel and sought sanctions.

The court docket indicates Alaba Ajetunmobi, Esq. did not file an opposition to any motion.

The judge ordered the plaintiff to answer all discovery within 10 days.

The judge also sanctioned Alaba Ajetunmobi $920, and the plaintiff, and ordered sanctions be paid within 30 days.

The judge said this was "discovery abuse".




Afterwards discovery was not responded to as ordered by the court.

Defendant then filed another motion to terminate the lawsuit and for sanctions.

Again, the court docket, and a court order, indicates Ajetunmobi did not file an opposition to the motion,

The judge referred to an "outright refusal" to comply with discovery obligations and that there was "discovery abuse".

The judge then dismissed the lawsuit.

Then the judge issued another $240 in sanctions against attorney Ajetunmobi and the plaintiff.




The judge's tentative ruling was then adopted as the final order of the court after Alaba Ajetunmobi did not attend the hearing.


Total sanctions awarded in the two orders are $1165.


California State Bar Suspensions


Alaba Ajetunmobi state bar record reflects three prior suspension orders.

In one case a motion for summary judgment was filed against Ajetunmobi's client. No opposition was filed and the case was lost.

Requests from his client to set aside the judgment were ignored.

The other party then sought to recover costs from Ajetunmobi's client. Again, no opposition was filed.




He was then involved in misconduct involving his attorney trust fund account.

A check was bounced.




The bar record reflects a suspension for failing to pass a professional responsibility exam.

There is also a suspension for failing to pay bar dues, although he may have already been suspended for not passing the exam.

In another matter Ajetunmobi failed to cooperate with the bar who was investigating one of cases involving an immigration issue.




He was also sanctioned $750 in another case and failed to pay the sanction.

The attorney also failed to cooperate with the bar investigating the matter.
