Laura Shapiro v. Morad Ben Neman - This tentative ruling and the Los Angeles case docket for this case indicates Harold Greenberg represented the plaintiff who was ordered to pay a jaw-dropping $11,250 due to attorney Greenberg's actions.

According to the court ruling, Harold Greenberg was plaintiff's attorney.

Several defendants filed a challenge called a demurrer to plaitiff's complaint, which Harold Greenberg did not oppose. As a result, the defendants obtained a dismissal against Harold Greenberg's client.

Plaintiff then sought to set aside the dismissal on the ground Harold Greenberg associated another law firm to do the work and they failed to do so.

The condition for allowing plaintiff to reinstate claims based on attorney error was having to pay defendants' legal fees. The court ordered payment of $11,250.

This is a lot of money. On the other hand, defendants sought $143,709.00, which the judge said was "plainly unreasonable".

Then, in a review of the online court file it appears the court sanctioned Harold Greenberg's law firm $1660 for failing to produce documents.




In our opinion it is unusual for a law firm to be subpoened to produce records, and even more unusual for a law firm to be sanctioned for not complying with the subpoena.
