The reason for the suspension was misappropriating $2000 in client funds, not cooperating with the bar, not returning client files, not refunding unearned fees, and failing to competently perform legal services.


In July 2004, Michael Taggart was suspended for two years. The suspension was stayed with three years of probation and a nine month actual suspension.

The reason for the suspension was failure to comply with a court order relating to trust funds he held, and also not being able to account for the money that was supposed to be in trust.

The online Los Angeles court records also indicated Taggart was representing "Jeffrew Agnew" who is believed to actually be Jeffrey Agnew, another California attorney suspended by the California State Bar.

The tentative ruling by the Los Angeles Superior Court was to issue terminating sanctions against the attorneys and to enter a default.

The lawsuit arose from a claim that legal services were not provided.

The order indicates discovery was served by plaintiff and defendants did not answer. There was a court order to answer the discovery. After failing to comply with the court order a new motion was brought for terminating sanctions.
